Cardmarket Guide: Buying and Selling Trading Cards in Europe
How Cardmarket works for European collectors: price trends, conditions, language filters, buying safely, selling as a private seller, shipping and fees.

If you collect in Europe, Cardmarket is the main marketplace for trading card singles: Pokémon, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Lorcana and more. Prices there often differ from US prices, so it's the reference European collectors use.
How Cardmarket works
- Sellers (private and professional) list cards with condition, language, edition and price
- Buyers add cards from one or more sellers to a cart
- Each seller ships their part separately, so shipping per seller matters
- Payment goes through the platform, which holds funds until the order is confirmed
Reading prices
Card pages typically show:
- From: the lowest current listing
- Price trend: a smoothed recent sales value
- Average sell price over recent periods
Use trend and recent averages for valuation, and check conditions and languages: a German copy and an English copy are priced separately.
Condition grades
Cardmarket uses its own scale (Mint, Near Mint, Excellent, Good, Light Played, Played, Poor). It's similar to the NM/LP scale but not identical; read their definitions before listing (card condition guide).
Buying tips
- Filter by language, condition and seller country to manage shipping
- Combine cards from fewer sellers to save on postage
- Check seller ratings
- Use tracked shipping for valuable orders
Selling tips
- List accurately: condition disputes are the main source of problems
- Price around the trend for quick sales
- Follow Cardmarket's shipping rules for value thresholds (tracked shipping above certain values)
- Pack cards securely (how to ship cards)
Languages and editions on Cardmarket
European buyers care a lot about language. English is the most liquid for most games, while some players want cards in their own language for local play. Vintage Pokémon in German, French or Italian has its own collector market. For Yu-Gi-Oh!, filter by edition (1st Edition vs Unlimited) as well. When you compare prices, always set the language and edition filters first, or the "From" price may be for a version you don't have.
Fees
Cardmarket charges a commission on sales, with different terms for private and professional sellers. Check current fees on their site.
Cardmarket vs US platforms
Prices for the same card can be higher or lower than on TCGplayer or eBay US. If you sell internationally, compare carefully (TCGplayer vs eBay vs Cardmarket).
Try it on your own cards
Rarefolio includes Cardmarket among the price sources behind each card's estimated value, alongside eBay and TCGplayer, so European collectors can see a realistic local price. Scan, check the estimate, then list on Cardmarket.
